Fei Yu-ching denies battling cancer
1 Dec – Veteran performer Fei Yu-ching has denied ongoing rumours that he is currently battling cancer.
As reported on Mingpao, the issue sparked recently, when a mainland internet celebrity called Dishi suddenly broke the news in a live broadcast that Fei was battling cancer and is now in critical condition after his cancer cells spread to other parts of his body.
The said celebrity also alleged that Fei has already called upon his lawyer to meet him in his ward so that they could start writing up his will.
After the news went viral online, Fei's manager came forward to clarify the news, simply stating, "The rumour is purely nonsense."
The singer's brother, Chang Fei also responded to it, saying that Fei is healthy and is living well.
The said internet celebrity had since apologised for the blunder, saying that he heard the news from his mother who read it online and mistakenly thought it was true.
"I did not verify or think about it at all during a live broadcast. Although I also said at the time that I don't know whether it's true or not and that I was unsure, it was still a live broadcast. I really didn't think it through," he admitted.
It is noted that the 65 year-old Fei Yu-ching has been enjoying his retirement for over a year now after completing his last tour in 2019.
