Fearne Cotton has shared her heartbreak after her cat of 21 years died this week.

The presenter and broadcaster had Keloy around the same time she joined CBBC in 2001 and has penned a moving tribute to the feline on social media.

Cotton wrote: "Yesterday I said goodbye to Keloy after 21 years. I had been dreading this but knew it was on the cards.

"Keloy wasn’t just a pet, she was a friend and a family member. She lived a life of true service, giving each of us unwavering love, comfort and loyalty."

The former Top of the Pops host also shared a number of pictures of the two of them together sleeping and sitting on the sofa.

Cotton also detailed that Keloy was a rescue cat: "I got Keloy (along with my other late cat Lula) from @themayhew twenty one years ago and brought her back to my little house in Harrow.

"Since then we moved all over London together. She sat by my side through the best and worst times and gave me a consistency I lacked elsewhere."

She concluded her tribute by saying: "I will miss looking into her big green eyes and snuggling up to her on the sofa. She was a wise and beautiful soul. I know she was ready to go. There was a contentment about her in the final weeks. I am mostly just grateful I had so long with her. Love you my angel."

Cotton's other cat Lula also passed away last December who she also had for over 20 years.

When Lula died she said: "Lula saw me at my best and worst and always without judgement. She brought unbelievable amounts of love into my life and for that I will be forever grateful.

"It feels like the end of an era as I literally can’t remember a time before she was in my world."
