FBI Squashes MAGA-Boosted Claims NOLA Attacker Had Help
The FBI has done a 180 on its previous belief that the New Orleans attacker might have had support for the horror New Year’s Day rampage that killed 14 revelers.
The FBI identified Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, as the suspect who drove a truck carrying explosives and an ISIS flag into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street, killing 14 and injuring more than 30. He then allegedly opened fire on police and was killed in a shoot-out.

FBI assistant special agent Alethea Duncan said Wednesday that the agency did not believe Jabbar was “solely responsible” and were investigating the incident as an “act of terrorism.”
But now, in what Fox called a “dramatic shift,” the agency is confident that the alleged attacker did indeed act alone.
FBI Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Raia confirmed the agency’s pivot on Thursday, calling the incident an “act of terrorism” and a “premeditated and evil act.”
“We do not assess at this point that anyone else is involved in this attack except for Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the subject you’ve already been briefed on,” Raia said.
He also said Jabbar, who reportedly claimed he joined ISIS before the summer, had drafted a last will and testament. This comes after FBI special agents and law enforcement partners conducted a number of court-authorized search warrants in New Orleans and other states.
The agency also confirmed that 14 people were killed in the attack after the local coroner’s office had reported 15 casualties.
After authorities initially floated the possibility that Jabbar had help planning his attack, the theory gained steam in MAGA circles, with Donald Trump and J.D. Vance falsely linking the mass killing to the southern border despite the suspect being a U.S. citizen.
Trump said: “When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true.”

That post came mere minutes after Fox News incorrectly reported that the truck driven by the suspect had crossed into Texas from Mexico two days prior.
Trump then claimed he “was right about everything” early Thursday morning, even after the Fox report was proven wrong.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was quick to amplify the false claims, too. “New Orleans terrorist attacker is said to have come across the border in Eagle Pass TWO DAYS AGO!!!” She failed to retract her comments when the truth came out.
Rep. Wesley Hunt, a Texas Republican and US Army veteran, was at it, too. “The devastating terror attack in New Orleans has left many Americans asking a sobering question: Has the enemy already already infiltrated our borders due to Joe Biden’s incompetence and his failure to secure our homeland?” he wrote.
Louisiana Republican senator John Kennedy also took heat after he held a press conference where he said he would would raise “fresh hell” if he is not satisfied with the investigation.
Kennedy said he would chase federal officials “like they stole Christmas” if they did not reveal the “truth” about the attack.
Tim Speiss, a former senior secret service agent, told Fox News that the agency were probably trying to cover all bases before ruling out the involvement of potential “planners” and those who may have handled the “logistics” of the attack.
“With this person being former military personnel I tend to think that he was very independent, he knew what he needed to do for himself and he knew how to do it,” Speiss said. “I think that someone like this doesn’t want to involve more people because then there’s the chance of leaks.”
