Supporters of Poland’s far-right marched through Warsaw on Thursday, November 11, pushing forward with an Independence Day procession that local officials called illegal.
Warsaw authorities had challenged the march in court, but it was supported by the country’s ruling Law and Justice party and ultimately went ahead.
Nationalist organizers framed this year’s march around the ongoing migrant crisis along Poland’s border with Belarus. Senior Polish officials have accused Belarus of deliberately driving migrants toward the frontier and into Poland.
