Famous Spanish Tomato-Throwing Festival Leaves Streets Covered in Pulp

Hundreds of cheering, tomato-soaked revelers lined the streets of Bunol, Spain, for the Tomatina Festival on Wednesday, August 31 after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.

Organizers provided more than 120 tons of overripe tomatoes, which were driven through the designated festival area for the participants to grab and throw, according to the festival’s official website. People travel from all over the world to take part in the festivities, which began in the 1940s, according to organizers.
