Famous crossover pianist Maksim is coming to Kuala Lumpur this Valentine’s Day

The early 00s were great for many things (not fashion tho), one of them being the era of classical crossover music.

In the sea of opera-singing boybands and sexy violinists is the “prince of piano”, Maksim Mrvica.

If you missed the time when everyone was impressed by his rendition of the chaotic and complex piece, Flight of the Bumblebee, Maksim is Croatian-born pianist who became especially popular in Asia.

Maybe it’s because most of us were forced to take some kind of musical lessons growing up but this surly-looking emo pianist showed us somehow that classical music can be edgy.

Since then, the 47-year-old has performed at some prestigious events and venues like Roundhouse in London, Suntory in Tokyo and Great Hall of the People in Beijing, to name a few.

Now you can relive those years again because he will be performing in Kuala Lumpur on Feb. 14 at the Plenary Hall KLCC.

The one-night-only solo performance will kickoff Maksim’s the Collection Tour for the Asian leg which will witness Malaysia as his first stop.

The award-winning pianist will be playing a range of popular and recognizable covers from Coldplay, John Legend, and Queen including theme music from Pirates of the Caribbean, Game of Thrones and The Godfather.

And of course, you can also expect classical tunes from Chopin, Liszt, and the Flight of the Bumblebee that made him famous.

Tickets to his show start from RM168($US39.29). Buy tickets here.
