Families reunited as Sydney lockdown ends

Phillip Mahoney, who lives in a care facility, was overjoyed to see his wife of 60 years, Coralie. The pair celebrated their reunion by holding hands and playing cards once again.

Grandmothers Caroline Brennan and Cathy Spirou also reunited with their daughters and grandchildren, finally able to see them in person after the extended lockdown.

Pubs, cafes and retail stores reopened in New South Wales, home to Sydney with families able to reunite on Monday (October 11) after vaccination levels in the state's adult population crossed 70%.
