FAM president seeks audience with Selangor Sultan

KUALA LUMPUR, June 27 — The President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, said he has sent a letter seeking an audience with the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, regarding the latter’s recent remarks.

Hamidin declined to comment further on the matter, according to national news agency, Bernama, but stated that he would provide an explanation concerning the current turmoil affecting Malaysian football.

“I am aware of His Royal Highness’ disappointment with the Malaysian Football League (MFL) decision. I contacted the Selangor Palace yesterday and followed up with a formal letter today requesting an audience with His Royal Highness.

“So, God willing, I will try to resolve and provide an explanation regarding the ongoing issues,” he said after the launch of the National Women’s League (LWN) 2024 season at Lalaport, Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) here today.

Yesterday, Sultan Sharafuddin expressed his profound disappointment and sadness with the MFL’s decision to fine Selangor FC for the team’s absence from the Charity Shield match on May 10.
