Fajar Road fire: CPR applied on cats, 13 saved and 1 died – SCDF
SINGAPORE — Fourteen cats found unconscious during a fire in the Bukit Panjang area were rescued by Singapore Civil Defence Force officers.
On Thursday morning (21 April), SCDF was alerted to a fire at Block 422 Fajar Road involving the contents of a service yard in a unit on the second floor of the block. Firefighters from Bukit Batok Fire Station entered the unit and extinguished the fire.
Some of the firefighters provided oxygen and conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the cats, SCDF said in a Facebook post on Friday.
“Thirteen of the cats eventually regained consciousness, while one had passed away,” SCDF said.
About 20 people were evacuated from neighbouring units as a precautionary measure, SCDF added. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
