SINGAPORE – By the end of the year, customers on the FairPrice Group's (FPG) NTUC Link rewards programme and ComfortDelGro's (CDG) Zig app will be able to integrate their spends across apps to enjoy joint tiered benefits offered by both parties.

In a statement on Wednesday (12 July), FPG and CDG said they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) "to provide customers (on their respective rewards programmes) with greater value and savings, when they consolidate their spend on daily essentials". The MOU is a first of its kind in the retail and transport industry.

"Through this programme, FPG and CDG aims to reward customers with greater benefits, savings and maximised loyalty points when they consolidate their Linkpoints and ZigPoints on daily essential spend such as groceries, cooked food and transport," the companies said.

Link members earn Linkpoints when they shop in-store or online from a variety of partners, which can be redeemed for savings and rewards across more than 1,000 outlets islandwide. ZigPoints can be earned from the CDG Zig App with every spend on car, bus, food and in-app deal. They can then be used to redeem vouchers from the ZigRewards catalogue or to offset fares.

AI technology to be used

Enhancements will be made to both the FairPrice app and CDG Zig app by the end of the year to allow customers – a total of more than 8.3 million – to enjoy the convenience of tracking their in-app spends, points and rewards. Artificial intelligence technology will be employed to offer personalised discounts and offers according to customers' spending habits.

"This partnership marks a significant milestone in our digital transformation strategy that not only incentivises customers to conveniently maximise savings when they shop within the FairPrice ecosystem, but it also reinforces our mission to moderate the cost of living in light of protracted inflationary pressures," Alvin Neo, Chief Customer and Marketing Officer, FairPrice Group said.

Stephen Chow, Chief Executive Officer of CDG Zig, ComfortDelGro added that the two homegrown brands are coming together to bring unique values to Singapore commuters and consumers.

"While starting with loyalty benefits, the strategic partnership will see us jointly curate more seamless door-to-door experiences of transport and shopping of everyday essentials," Chow said.
