Factory makes high-end replicas of Egyptian treasures

This factory produces high-end replicas of Egypt's ancient treasures

Location: Qalyubia, Egypt

The "Konouz Factory" houses more than 150 artists and conservators

who have produced more than 6,400 replicas

made of stone, wood, ceramic, gold, and silver

Many of the copies will be sold at the new Egyptian Museum of Civilization

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) TECHNICAL AFFAIRS DIRECTOR AT KONOUZ FACTORY, HANI AHMED, SAYING:

"Our product is a copy of the original artifact. They are made with high-quality materials. We have an example, such as this one, an Anubis, a copy such as this one. It holds the stamp from the High Council of Antiquities, a barcode and there is a certificate that states this is an exact copy of the original artifact. This is not available in ordinary Egyptian markets, or with things that are sold in commercial markets."
