'F*** the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame': Liam Gallagher blasts Oasis nomination

Liam Gallagher is livid that Oasis have been shortlisted for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The singer-songwriter, 51, was part of the rock band for 18 years before they split in 2009 after he became locked in a bitter feud with bandmate and older brother, Noel Gallagher, which is ongoing.

After the the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame included the Wonderwall hit-makers amongst its nominees for its class of 2024 on Saturday, Gallagher took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to make his feelings on the matter clear.

“F*** the Rock n Roll hall of fame its [sic] full of BUMBACLARTS LG x,” he tweeted on Monday.

When pressed by his 3.6m followers if he really didn’t want Oasis to win, the Mancunian musician replied: “I honestly feel there’s something very fish about those awards.”

Later adding: “I don’t need some w*** award by some geriatric in a cowboy hat.”

John Sykes, the chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a statement: "This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honours and celebrates.

"Continuing in the true spirit of rock and roll, these artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps."

Ozzy Osbourne, the late Sinead O'Connor - who died last July, aged 56 - Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, and Cher are also among the nominees.

Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. and Rakim, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Jane’s Addiction, Kool and the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Sade and A Tribe Called Quest complete the list.

Honourees will be announced in April and the ceremony will be staged in the autumn of 2024.

When asked online whether any Oasis band members were likely to attend if they won, Liam couldn’t seem to resist a cheeky dig at his sibling, saying: “The little fella loves hanging out with celebrities so he’d prob go. As for me I’m washing my hair and having a pedicure and a manicure.”
