Explosion of 'Incandescent Material' Recorded at Mexico Volcano

A strong explosion of “incandescent material” was recorded at the Popocatepetl volcano in San Matias Tlalancaleca, Mexico, late on Saturday, December 31, local authorities said.

This video filmed by Diego Vazquez Garay shows the volcano erupting.

Puebla state’s civil protection service said the explosion occurred at 11:21 pm and the local population did not appear to be affected, although it advised locals to cover water tanks and cisterns due to ash emissions. Credit: Diego Vazquez Garay via Storyful
