Special air quality statement ends for Windsor-Essex after hazy morning

A special air quality statement for Windsor and Essex County has come to an end Friday afternoon, Environment Canada says, after pollution from Detroit caused worsened air quality in the region.

The agency said elevated pollution levels are either no longer expected or have moved from the area.

Environment Canada warns that people may cough more and experience throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath, particularly children and older adults, during times of poor air quality.
