Exercising outdoors during the day has been banned in Paris as the number of cases and subsequent deaths keep rising.

Authorities will enforce the new rules tomorrow, which will remain in place during the hours of 10am and 7pm. It comes after particularly good weather in Paris last weekend saw large numbers of people exercising and walking in the parks, in spite of the stringent lockdown rules and fines for those not obeying them.

France has been in lockdown for nearly a month, though the BBC report that hundreds of thousands of people have already been issued fines for breaking the rules.

Currently, people must produce documents explaining why they have left their house. As the death toll continues to rise, increasing the severity of the lockdown restrictions in Paris appears to be the next logical step.

There have been over 10,000 deaths in France due to COVOID-19, putting it fourth behind Italy, Spain and the US, though the outbreak has not yet reached its predicted peak.

According to the BBC, Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo explained the rules would mean that people will exercise "when the streets are generally at their quietest." It is hoped that this will slow the spread of the virus, preventing further transmission and ultimately decrease the amount of deaths.

It is not yet known if or when stricter measures will be actioned here in the UK.
