The Undoing's Hugh Grant has revealed what he found most difficult about filming the new HBO show.

Based on Jean Hanff Korelitz's novel You Should Have Known, the six-part series stars Nicole Kidman as Grace, a prominent therapist on the verge of publishing her first book when her husband Jonathan (Grant) disappears.

His disappearance soon leads to some horrifying revelations and Grace must act fast to protect herself and her son.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Grant opened up about how he's never been part of such a hard-hitting, family-related storyline.

"There was quite a lot of heavy, emotional stuff for me to do around family in this series, and I'm not sure I've ever had to do that in quite the same way before," he said.

"And it did help enormously now that I have a wife and kids that I love and was separated from when I was shooting, so it was quite raw some of that for me."

The Undoing, which premieres in the UK on Sky Atlantic tonight (October 26), sees Kidman reunite with Big Little Lies writer David E Kelley.

The series also stars Edgar Ramirez, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Matilda De Angelis, Lily Rabe, Noah Jupe, Sofie Grabol, Donald Sutherland and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child star Noma Dumezweni.

The Undoing airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK. You can also catch up on the show via Sky Go and Now TV.
