Exclusive: Hollyoaks star reacts to Fame Academy judges' "absolutely brilliant" cameo

From Digital Spy

Fame Academy judges Carrie and David Grant have guest starred in a poignant Hollyoaks episode for Ollie Morgan.

Carrie and David are the real-life parents of Brooke Hathaway actress Talia Grant, and appeared in Thursday's (February 20) first-look episode as the couple — Mal and Zoe — who were adopting Brooke and Ollie Morgan's newborn son.

Ollie (Aedan Duckworth) was facing a tide of emotions as he'd just been told by his father Luke Morgan (Gary Lucy) that both he and his newborn son were at risk of developing FTD Pick's disease, like Luke.

"Yesterday, I was preparing to spend the rest of my life with my son. Now, I'm losing both of you," the teen realised.

With his father's words on his mind, Ollie was determined to give his son a memory book documenting his relationship with Brooke and the pregnancy.

It was an emotional scene as Ollie presented Mal and Zoe with the memory book and he had to say his final goodbyes to his little boy.

"If he is like me, and he has autism, will you please still love him?" Brooke asked the new parents, with Zoe assuring her: "We already do. And we'll never stop."

Saying his own goodbye to his boy, Ollie told him: "Daddy will always love you."

But after the little one was off with his adoptive parents, Ollie realised Mal and Zoe had left the memory book behind — which meant his son would have no way of remembering him!

"We'll ask the social worker if they can hand it to them," Luke assured him.

Following Thursday's first-look episodes, Aedan Duckworth spoke exclusively to Digital Spy about the experience of working with co-star Talia Grant's real-life parents Carrie and David in this episode.

"They were absolutely brilliant and they smashed it," he told us. "It was brilliant that, I loved that they were involved.

"They're such lovely people and I knew them already before they came on set to do the filming. It was fun, a good experience for them and us."

Asked if he gave the Fame Academy stars any advice, Aedan assured us: "They didn't need advice, they gave us advice! Not the other way around!"

Sadly, Ollie is set to go down a dark road this year, leading up to a tragic scene from the New Year's Eve flashforward episode showing a distraught Ollie with a bag of drugs.

Hollyoaks airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm.
