In an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, he addressed the fan confusion surrounding Cher's origins, as his character Sylver previously admitted that he'd only ever slept with Mercedes.
Could this be a plot hole, or was he telling porkies the whole time?
"I think because Sylver is such a symbol of the truth and honesty, the fact that he's told such a massive lie, means that his reaction now is, 'Oh my God! I've got to do everything in my power to cover this up so that nobody ever finds out,'" he explained.
"I'm not sure why he made it up in the first place that he'd only ever slept with Mercedes – I think maybe he was just trying to impress Mercedes! But now that it's all come to a head, Sylver is panicking. He doesn't know what to do."
On Cher's mysterious conception, David theorised: "When Sylver went to prison, obviously they have the medical staff there. There was a dental nurse there who checked up on the prisoners.
"I presume with Sylver's charms, he managed to woo her into a couple of minutes of passion in the dental office or something like that! I think that's as far as it went.
"They had this little fling, she got pregnant and then Sylver heard nothing about it until his daughter appeared in his life 18 years later."
