Our Girl spoilers follow.

Our Girl's Georgie Lane recently made her emotional exit from the BBC drama and fans were relieved when the sergeant, who was certainly put through her paces in every way in the fourth season, was granted a reasonably happy ending.

Georgie's final episode saw her finally find some closure on her relationship with fiancé Elvis, who was tragically killed in an explosion in the show's third season.

Actress Michelle Keegan, who spent three years in Georgie's shoes, exclusively told Digital Spy ahead of the return of her show Brassic that one moment in her final episode in particular was an indication that Georgie will now be able to move forward with her life.

"So we know how Georgie exited the show now, she got the closure that she desperately needed, she finally took the ring off her dog tags. That was a symbol that she's been carrying that burden, she's been carrying that grief and she's been carrying the ring round her neck and it's weighed her down. The end scene, after everything that's happened, she dealt with that grief and she's free," she explained.

"I think Georgie will always love Elvis but she's dealt with the grief now and it's given her closure to move on."

But will we ever see Georgie again? Keegan has previously spoken about potentially returning to the role in future and the actress confirmed that she wouldn't rule out reprising the popular character one day.

"I can't say what's going to happen in the future and now because it's been on screen and Georgie hasn't been killed, I can now say the door has been left open for Georgie to return, which is great for me because I absolutely love the show and it's such a special show to be a part of," she said.

Brassic seasons 1 and 2 are both available to watch on NOW TV.

"For me I'll never say never to going back, ever. I love playing Georgie Lane – it was such a challenging yet rewarding role."

Keegan also spoke to Digital Spy about a potential third season for Brassic, confirming that another run "is already in the works".

"I don't really know storylines, what's going to happen yet, but my hope for Erin is that she stays with the gang because I think she finds it really exciting and [it] gives her a purpose in a way," she said of her character.

Our Girl is available to watch on BBC iPlayer, while Brassic season 2 is available on Sky One and streaming service NOW TV.
