For some, being in lockdown with your family is a blessing in disguise, an opportunity to spend some quality time with the people you love. Unless you're Ben Harper (Robert Lindsay) from My Family.

Exclusively for Digital Spy, the BBC One sitcom has released a series of outtakes for the first time ever, with a special lockdown intro from the angry dad himself.

"Well, here we all are, in our homes, safe and sound... with our family," Lindsay dejectedly begins the introduction.

"What could be better?" he continues sarcastically, before music starts to blare from his son's bedroom.

"You know, these are tough times for all of us, individuals or as a family. But it's also a time to embrace the moment, to try and bond with family members, who we haven't really understood."

He's then interrupted by his shouting son, prompting him to get out of his seat and prematurely end the intro.

We then cut to a series of never-before-seen outtakes from My Family, in which Lindsay and the rest of the cast – Zoe Wanamaker, Gabriel Thomson, Daniela Denby-Ashe and more – fluff their lines and burst into laughter.

Airing its first episode in 2000, My Family ran for 11 seasons before ending in 2011. The sitcom centred on long-suffering dentist Ben Harper (Lindsay) and his family – wife Susan (Wanamaker), his idiotic eldest son Nick (Kris Marshall), his daughter Janey (Denby-Ashe) and his youngest son Michael (Thomson).

Back in April, the hit sitcom actually made a return to BBC One to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Unfortunately, this was a one-off, as Lindsay himself previously told Digital Spy that My Family will never come back for a new series – not even for another one-off.

My Family airs on Fridays on BBC One at 8pm and all series are available on BBC iPlayer.
