Ex-RNC Chair Trashes Donald Trump Over Trial In Most Sarcastic Way
Michael Steele, a former chair of the Republican National Committee, pulled no punches with his commentary on Donald Trumpâs hush money trial, which began Monday.
Steele sarcastically swiped on X (formerly Twitter) that it was âsuch a proud momentâ for the GOP that its presumptive presidential nominee was âsitting in a courtroom on trial for 34 counts of first-degree falsifying business records.â
Steele, a longtime critic of Trump, summarized the allegations against the four-times-indicted former president, who is accused making a payment before the 2016 election to porn actor Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about an alleged affair.
Then the Republican grandee sought to clarify, âThis case is NOT about the payment but rather about the âcatch and killâ scheme â the effort to falsify official records â to conceal his agreement with others in order to cover up the payment from the public and âto unlawfully influence the 2016 presidential election.ââ
âSo Proud,â Steele sarcastically ended his post.

Last week, Steele lamented Trumpâs lack of shame and embarrassment, which hadnât dampened his enthusiasm to return to the White House.
Steele also urged the media not to become distracted by the ex-presidentâs âcrazy-behind circus,â saying: âWe should be embarrassed as a country right now that we find ourselves with this man as a potential next president.â
