Ex-Chelsea boss tipped to ‘put a rocket up’ Tottenham as Daniel Levy ponders Conte replacement
TalkSPORT host Laura Woods believes that former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel would be a ‘great’ appointment for Tottenham Hotspur.
Antonio Conte will return to the Spurs dugout for their Champions League clash against AC Milan, but it seems likely he will leave the club at the end of the season.
With that in mind, Daniel Levy is already looking at potential replacements and Tuchel certainly has the potential to be an ideal candidate.
Indeed, Conte’s contract at Tottenham is set to expire at the end of the current campaign and it is now widely expected that he will not pen an extension.
The Italian coach has endured a mixed time at the London club, guiding them to a fourth-place finish last season, but he may struggle to repeat that feat this term.
While Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a sensational return to Spurs, other potential candidates have also been doing the rounds in the media recently.
Tuchel won three major trophies during a short stint with Chelsea, including the Champions League, so he arguably would be the best option available at the moment.

Laura Woods says Tuchel would be a ‘great fit’ for Spurs
Speaking on talkSPORT about the prospect of Tuchel replacing Conte at Tottenham, Woods said: “I actually think Thomas Tuchel would be a great shout.
“I think managers that come back into the league, they’ve got something to prove and want to go back – a bit like Conte, funnily enough, I wonder what’s happened there?
“Seriously, though, I just think with Thomas Tuchel – in the small space of time that he came into Chelsea and arranged that team, that had already got top four from Frank Lampard, so had a lot of young talent, made a few changes, won the Champions League.
“I just think that kind of personality that he has to go into a team like Spurs, who just look like they are devoid of enjoyment at the moment and they’re lacking something.
“Go and get the best out of Son, go and put a rocket up them. I honestly think that would be a great fit.”
Indeed, while Tuchel’s connections with Chelsea may raise some questions among Spurs supporters, this is not something that will bother Levy.
Jose Mourinho and Conte, after all, previously managed their London rivals, while Andre Villas-Boas and Glenn Hoddle also arrived with previous stints at Stamford Bridge.
It was a major shock when Chelsea sacked Tuchel so soon after winning the Champions League, so it would not be a surprise to see him back in the Premier League in the near future.
