KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 17 — Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) announced that it has appointed former Federal Court judge Tan Sri Zainun Ali as its non-independent non-executive chairman effective today, her second time in the role.

She previously took up the position in January 2018 following her retirement as a Federal Court judge, until she departed in August 11, 2020, to make way for Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir who resigned last December to be the foreign affairs minister in the Anwar administration.

In 2012, Zainun became only the fifth woman ever to be elevated to the bench of the Federal Court.

During her time with the country’s highest court, she had presided over such landmark cases as the one involving the unilateral conversion of Hindu mother M. Indira Gandhi’s three children to Islam.

She is also a director at both Permodalan Nasional Berhad and Allianz Malaysia Berhad, as well as a consultant at the full-service Kuala Lumpur legal firm Zain & Co.

Zainun also sits on the Advisory Board of the United Nations (UN) Global Judicial Integrity Network and as a judge in the Administrative Tribunal of the Islamic Development Bank of Jeddah.

Besides that, she is the deputy chairman of the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission.
