Ewan McGregor gives update on “Obi-Wan Kenobi” season 2: 'There’s got to be another few stories in there'
McGregor made an appearance on a panel during Los Angeles Comic-Con.
Ewan McGregor isn’t ready to put down his lightsaber just yet.
During a recent panel at L.A. Comic Con, the Star Wars actor revealed that he, Lucasfilm, and Disney are all currently “exploring” ideas for a potential second season of his character’s standalone Disney+ series, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
“Obviously, between the end of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and when Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi, there’s got to be another few stories in there,” McGregor explained at the event. “We’re definitely hoping, or, well, exploring that, I think would be the word to say.”
Representatives for McGregor and Disney did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly’s request for comment.

McGregor is right — Obi-Wan Kenobi is set nine years before Guinness' portrayal of the character in A New Hope, which means that there is almost a decades-worth of adventures that could be explored over the course of additional seasons of the show.
The first season of the limited series followed the titular Jedi Master (McGregor) as he came out of hiding to rescue a young Princess Leia (Vivien Lyra Blair) after she was kidnapped by the Galactic Empire. Along the way, Obi-Wan found himself coming face-to-face with the shadow of his former padawan, Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen).

McGregor also expressed his interest in a Clone Wars-era prequel that would see him reunite onscreen with Christensen earlier in the panel. “I’d quite like to wear that armor — I was speaking to someone earlier from the Clone Wars,” he teased, sending the Star Wars fans in attendance into a frenzy. “I think that’s something I would enjoy.”
The only problem, McGregor explained, is that the Clone Wars occurred before the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi, meaning he'd have to have tiny dots placed across his face throughout filming so that he could be de-aged using CGI. “But I’ll do it. I don’t care,” he maintained. “And that way Hayden and I can really get back together again.”
This isn’t the first time McGregor has shared his (not-so-new) hope for a second season of Obi-Wan. He previously told EW back in 2022 that he’d “like to make another one” in the future.
"It sounds a bit pretentious, but it's nice to make people happy. It's nice to know that by all of our efforts in making this Obi-Wan Kenobi series, the fans are going to be stoked. I think they're not going to be disappointed by it,” he said. “Maybe some will, but you can't please all the people all the time. But knowing that people are going to be happy because of our work is a nice feeling."
At the time, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy similarly told EW that the idea of continuing Obi-Wan’s story was very much on the table. "It's certainly something we talk about," she said, "mainly because everybody came together and had such an incredible time. Ewan had an incredible time. Hayden had an incredible time. So certainly from that point of view, everybody involved would love to see this not end.”
Kennedy continued, “But we have to really spend our time asking the question: Why would we do it? If we were to decide to do anything more with the Obi-Wan character, we'd have to really answer the question why?”
