STORY: Russia denies targeting civilians in what it calls a "special military operation."
A 'Giatsint' field gun covered Kharkiv with fragmentation shells, according to a preliminary investigation.
The evidence "will be used in the law case against the Russian Federation, accusing it of genocide against the civilians of Kharkiv," the spokeswoman of Kharkiv regional branch of the interior ministry, Olena Barannik said.
She added that one person was wounded.
Russian forces have been pounding Kharkiv for weeks now. Regional authorities said apartment buildings and schools have been targeted, with civilians killed.
