Riot Games has unveiled Valorant’s 14th agent, the stealthy infiltrator Yoru, who will join the game’s roster of agents once Episode 2 is released on Wednesday (12 January PST, 13 January SGT).

Riot has already shared details on Yoru’s abilities ahead of his release, so read on to find out everything you need to know about him:

Yoru is of Japanese descent and possesses the uncanny ability to rip through the fabric of reality and jump in between dimensions.

He is the fifth agent in the duelist class and differs largely from the other agents in his class as he primarily relies on stealth and misdirection to take down opponents.

While other duelists would dive deep into enemy lines with guns blazing, Yoru instead prefers to wander around the map while remaining invisible to take down unsuspecting enemies from the shadows.

Yoru is also able to take advantage of one of the more interesting mechanics added to the game, as he can fake the sound of footsteps with one of his abilities to fool opponents.

Yoru’s Abilities

Yoru’s first two abilities, Fakeout and Gatecrash, are all about misdirection. Fakeout allows him to send an echo of himself towards a location that fakes the sound of his footsteps, which he can use to bait opponents out of position or fool them with a fake push. Meanwhile, Gatecrash allows Yoru to place a rift tether that he can teleport to at will, letting him escape sticky situations or get behind unsuspecting opponents.

Yoru’s signature ability, Blindside, is a flash that sticks onto walls. It is highly effective in providing cover while he either plants or defuses the spike once he sneaks behind enemy lines.

Finally, Yoru’s ultimate, Dimensional Drift, renders him completely invisible. With it, Yoru can sneak past enemies to either scout out their positioning or get a quick kill on an unsuspecting opponent. Use it in tandem with Fakeout and Gatecrash to outplay and fool your enemies, allowing you and your teammates to easily score kills and take objectives.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of Yoru’s abilities:

  • Ability 1: Fakeout (C)

    • EQUIP an echo that mimics footsteps when activated. FIRE to activate and send the echo forward. ALT FIRE to place an echo in place. USE the inactive echo to send it forward.

  • Ability 2: Gatecrash (E)

    • EQUIP to harness a rift tether. FIRE to send the tether out moving forward. ALT FIRE to place a tether in place. ACTIVATE to teleport to the tether’s location.

  • Signature Ability: Blindside (Q)

    • EQUIP to rip an unstable dimensional fragment from reality. FIRE to throw the fragment, activating a flash that winds up once it collides with a hard surface.

  • Ultimate: Dimensional Drift (X)

    • EQUIP a mask that can see between dimensions. FIRE to drift into Yoru’s dimension, unable to be affected or seen by enemies from the outside.

Aside from Yoru, Valorant Episode 2 also comes with a new battle pass, which will run until 1 March, as well as the Run-It-Back skin bundle, which includes fan-favourite skins from Episode 1.
