Evacuations were ordered for Greenville in northern California’s Plumas County as the Dixie Fire threatened the town on August 2.

The Plumas County Sheriff told residents to evacuate towards Quincy immediately at around 5:30 pm local time.

Hot, windy and dry conditions helped the fire produce spot fires as it headed northeast towards Greenville, according to firefighting authorities. The blaze was 249,635 acres in size and 35 percent contained.
