Evacuation Order Lifted as Avila Beach Fire Burns 400 Acres

A fast-moving vegetation fire in the Avila Beach area of California burned persistently through the afternoon of Monday, June 15, and into June 16, according to California fire officials.

Officials said Tuesday morning that the fire had burned over 400 acres and was 20 percent contained, according to local media.

Roads in Pismo Beach were shut down Monday afternoon but had reopened. An evacuation order issued for the City of Pismo Beach was lifted around 11.30 Monday night.

Firefighters from out-of-state were expected Tuesday to aid local teams battling the fire, local media reported.
