Eurovision: ‘Think About Things’ singer Daði Freyr to return to represent Iceland in 2021

Icelandic musician Daði Freyr will be back representing his country during next year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

Freyr was due to perform in the international music competition in 2020 with “Think About Things”, with the singer considered a favourite to win following the song’s success online.

However, his future in Eurovision was left unclear after the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, with artists unable to perform the songs intended for Eurovision 2020 in next year’s event.

Sharing the news of his return, Freyr wrote on Twitter on Friday (23 October): “Eurovision 2021! I’m coming back next year and Gagnamagnið is joining me! So I guess I’m writing another Eurovision song.”

The news comes after it was revealed that Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing and partner Karen Hauer would be dancing to “Think About Things” during Saturday’s (24 October) first live show of Strictly Come Dancing.

Eurovision 2021 will take place in Rotterdam, following Duncan Laurence’s win for the Netherlands in 2019.

This year’s cancellation marked the first time Eurovision had not gone ahead in its 64-year history.

In August, it was announced that spin-off The American Song Contest would be coming to the US in 2021.

As with Eurovision, a series of televised qualifier competitions and semi-finals between all 50 US states will air before a primetime grand finale.
