Euro giant serious about offering Mason Greenwood ‘route back’, with former Man Utd man to persuade move
Juventus have reportedly made it ‘very clear’ they are interested in offering Mason Greenwood a ‘route back’ to top-level football, with the presence of Paul Pogba a potential bargaining chip.
Greenwood has been sidelined since the beginning of 2022, with Manchester United suspending the forward pending the outcome of a criminal investigation against him.
In early 2023, it was reported all charges against him had been dropped. However, Greenwood is yet to re-enter the fold at Old Trafford, with the club yet to decide on his future.
Whether or not he does return there remains to be seen. A large portion of the fanbase feel he should no longer be able to represent the club, and he may be villainised should he return.
As such, his career with the Red Devils is up in the air. The forward doesn’t appear to be without suitors for if he is not to return to the field for United.
That’s a positive for Greenwood, given recent reports have suggested he has told people close to him he won’t play for them again.
A move to China has been mooted, with a switch to the continent seemingly a viable option, as AC Milan are reportedly interested in acquiring the Englishman’s services.
Another Italian side have also now entered the fold. Indeed, The Sun reports Juventus are ready to offer Greenwood a fresh start.
That report suggests they have ‘made it clear’ they are ‘very interested’ in giving the striker a ‘route back to top-level football’. Juventus have apparently ‘sounded out’ Greenwood’s camp and are hoping they can land him on a ‘long-term loan deal’.
That might be United’s best chance of shipping the Englishman out, with the report suggesting there are concerns over whether a side would pay a ‘serious fee’ for him.
It also mentions the Milan interest, alongside that of Roma. Juventus, though, have a bargaining chip in the form of former United midfielder Pogba.
The Frenchman was a senior member of the Red Devils squad while Greenwood was coming through the ranks, as well as when he did break into the first team.
As such, the allure with linking up with a former star man from his current club could be seen as a good opportunity for him. A Juventus move also represents a good chance to play for a top side.
Juve are currently in the top four of Serie A, and have been particularly successful over the past few years. Getting back into the swing of things at a club of that size may well be an attractive prospect for Greenwood.
