KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Bernama) – Etiqa Group Insurance and Takaful has introduced AafiahCare, its first-in-Malaysia stand-alone takaful critical illness plan that covers 68 critical illnesses, including one for mental illness.
In a statement today, Etiqa Family Takaful Bhd chief executive officer Zafri Ab. Halim, said the key feature of AafiahCare is that the mental illness coverage is deemed as an additional benefit that does not reduce the basic coverage amount and the group is encouraged by the response to this plan.
“AafiahCare is in line with the principles of Value Based Intermediation (VBI) to support people, planet as well as prosperity, ” said Zafri.
Etiqa said as long as the customer is accepted by Etiqa, he will be eligible for cover, subject to the normal underwriting process with the range of mental illness covered being from RM7,500 up to a maximum of RM30,000 depending on the sum covered.
Etiqa’s AafiahCare covers four types of mental illness comprising bipolar affective disorder, major depressive disorder, schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder.
