Escaped Rodeo Bull Runs Into Crowd at Florida State Fair

A bull broke out of its holding pen and into a panicked crowd during a rodeo at the Florida State Fair in Tampa on August 27.

Christopher Thornton recorded this footage of the incident, which he said occurred during the bull riding performance. Thornton said staff were attempting to rearrange two bulls in their gates when one squeezed out of its own and into another, where it then “bucked off one of the side panels of the gate, and was able to run loose.”

The footage shows the bull running around the stadium as guests scream and a person over a loud speaker urges people to stay calm. A man is eventually able to lasso the animal and pull it back into the arena and, after some firm coaxing, the animal is returned to a holding pen.

“This was my first time attending a rodeo and it won’t be my last,” Thornton said. “Hats off to that cowboy, his amazing horse, and his throw.”
