Spectacular footage recorded on January 8 shows lava movement at Sicily’s Mount Etna, with up-close visuals documenting the reaction when a local tosses a hunk of snow onto the flowing lava.
The video was filmed by Giuseppe Distefano and follows a block of snow after it hits the crust of molten lava.
Distefano runs the Facebook account Etna Walk, where he documents the Sicilian volcano’s status.
The Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology’s Etnean Observatory announced in their latest update that the average amplitude of the volcanic tremor had not shown significant variations, and remained within the range of average values. Credit: Etna Walk via Storyful
