A photographer captured footage of two endangered right whales off the coast of Juno Beach in Florida on January 10 and 11.
This drone video, taken by photographer Paul Dabill, shows an adult whale and calf swimming together.
Speaking to Storyful, Dabill said he recorded the footage at various times on January 10 and 11 from a distance using a high-powered zoom lens. Federal law requires vessels, paddle boarders, and aircraft, including drones, to stay at least 500 yards away from right whales.
Right whales have been listed as endangered since 1970, and the latest estimates suggest that there are less than 350 remaining in the wild, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries (NOAA).
