The film follows Emily (Plaza), who is saddled with student debt and locked out of the job market due to a minor criminal record. Desperate for income, she takes a shady gig as a “dummy shopper,” buying goods with stolen credit cards supplied by a handsome and charismatic middleman named Youcef (Theo Rossi). Faced with a series of dead-end job interviews, Emily soon finds herself seduced by the quick cash and illicit thrills of black-market capitalism, and increasingly interested in her mentor Youcef. Together, they hatch a plan to bring their business to the next level in Los Angeles.

Megalyn Echikunwoke and Gina Gershon also starred in the film, which was financed by Tyler Davidson’s Low Spark Films in association with Fear Knot Productions.

Plaza produced through her Evil Hag Productions banner, alongside Davidson and Drew Sykes for Low Spark. Kevin Flanigan, Dexter Braff, Angus Wall, Kent Kubena, Lowell Shapiro and Mike Dill served as the pic’s exec producers.

Ford will direct and exec produce the series; Plaza will exec produce ia her Evil Hag Productions alongside Low Spark’s Davidson and Sykes.

Ford is repped by CAA, Black Box Management, and attorney Todd Rubenstein of Yorn Levine Barnes Krintzman Rubenstein Kohner Endlich & Gellman. Plaza is repped by MGMT, CAA and Schreck Rose Dapello Adams Berlin & Dunham. The rights deal was negotiated on behalf of Low Spark Films by Oliver Wheeler of Range Media Partners, and attorney Paul Brennan of Bruns Brennan Pikulin & Jacobs PC.
