Emily Blunt and John Krasinski make an effort to stay "connected" despite their busy careers.

While speaking at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie The Fall Guy on Tuesday, April 30, Blunt, 41, was asked about her nearly 14-year marriage to Krasinski, 44. The pair tied the knot on July 10, 2010 at George Clooney's estate in Lake Como, Italy.

With the actors both having hectic shooting schedules, Blunt said it's important they regularly make time for one another whenever they're apart.

"Oh my God, we're like anyone else, really. You just have to keep checking in. You just have to stay connected," the Devil Wears Prada star told reporters at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

Blunt and Krasinksi first met through a friend back in 2008, before his rep confirmed to PEOPLE that they were engaged in August 2009. The pair share daughters, Hazel, 10, and Violet, 7.

While speaking to PEOPLE at SXSW in Austin in March, Blunt revealed that she was able to take tips from her husband's life experiences to play director Jody Moreno in The Fall Guy.

“I am married to a director, I know what it's like to hold the tempest of the movie in your head and the pressures and being pulled in a million directions,” she said of the film, which was directed by David Leitch and adapted by Drew Pearce from the hit 1980s television drama of the same name.

“I liked her eccentricity, I liked her humanity. She was fun to me. I just loved her,“ Blunt continued of her character. "I like that we didn't do the sort of earnest, serious director. I was keen to show somebody in a situation where she was way over her head and yet she's incredible and talented."

Blunt stars alongside Ryan Gosling, who plays stuntman Colt Seavers, in the film. Seavers reunites with his former flame Moreno to help her pull off filming a blockbuster sci-fi Western. However, before long he finds himself in a bit of a situation off-screen when the movie's big star suddenly goes missing.

The Fall Guy is in theaters May 3.
