Emergency Management Tents Spotted Outside Manhattan Hospital

Emergency tents were spotted outside of Mount Sinai West hospital on 59th St in Manhattan’s Upper West Side on March 26.

According to local news source West Side Rag, the tents were erected outside of the Mount Sinai hospitals on West 59th Street and West 114th Street earlier in March to prepare for an influx of patients and were considered an “extension of the emergency department.”

On March 24, 48-year-old assistant nurse manager Kious Kelly, who worked at Mount Sinai West, died from complications as a result of COVID-19. The New York Times called him possibly “the first New York City nurse to die from the virus.”
