Arizona Gov Doug Ducey issued an emergency declaration on July 16 due to continued flash flooding that has impacted northern areas of the state.
In a series of Twitter posts, Ducey said that conditions were worsened by previous wildfires in the region. Fires can creates conditions more susceptible to flooding.
“The flooding is causing road closures, damaging property and putting Arizonans’ safety at risk,” Ducey said. “This Declaration of Emergency will give those working to protect others the tools they need to keep our communities safe.”
