KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 — Putrajaya is extending the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) on two areas in Ipoh, Perak until December 10.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said two areas are Zone B and Zone C Taman Meru 2C in Ipoh as some residents were still waiting for their Covid-19 test results from the Health Ministry.

The Taman Meru 2C EMCO started on November 20 and was initially to end tomorrow.

Ismail Sabri said 1,793 in the area have been screened and so far, 66 residents have tested positive for Covid-19.

He also said the National Security Council (NSC) has decided to lift the EMCO on the Seberang Prai Prison and its staff quarters in Penang effective today.

He said the Seberang Prai Prison saw its last positive case on November 27 and that there had been no more reports since out of the 1,809 people screened.

The NSC decided that EMCO on two other localities in Sabah, however, will only end tomorrow.

The first locality affects Kg Nahaba and Kg Tegudon in Kota Belud.

Ismail Sabri said a risk assessment of Kg Nahaba and Kg Tegudon by Health officials showed the infection rate has decreased and is now under control.

The second locality covers the Tawau temporary detention centre as well as the Sandakan Prison and its staff quarters, where 4,422 people in total have been screened and 1,573 found positive for Covid-19.

Arrests on health lawbreakers

The minister also announced action against 290 people for violating health regulations.

He said 285 were fined, four remanded for further investigation and one released on bail.

He added that 21 undocumented migrants and a skipper were arrested yesterday under Ops Benteng to prevent unauthorised entry into the country.
