Elaine Ng is reunited with her estranged father

14 Jan – Elaine Ng recently revealed that she has recently been in contact with her estranged father, whom she had been separated from for more than 30 years.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who spoke about the reunion that she first shared on social media, stated that it was a bit of a turning point for her and her father.

"It was my aunt who found me by sending an old photo of her and her phone number to my colleague via Weibo. I found out that my father is currently living in the United States, so we started calling each other. He is obviously in his late 70s or early 80s now, but he sounded young," she said.

Elaine also revealed that her father is living on his own now as relatives and friends have moved to other places.

"I wanted to persuade him to return to Hong Kong, but he has lived in the United States for decades. I'm worried that he would not be able to adapt to living here. I hope to be able to persuade him to come after the pandemic," she said.

Asked why she wouldn't go to him instead, Elaine stated that she has aerophobia (fear of flying).

Elaine first mentioned about her father in a social media post that came after former lover and baby daddy Jackie Chan failed to acknowledge their daughter Etta as his own in his book, "Never Grow Up" back in 2018, saying that her own mother was jeered at in the past for her own failed marriage and the irony of her taking care of Etta who looks exactly like her father.

"Since I was young, I have heard all the ugly words. When I was 10 or so, I became numb to what people said," she added.
