Egypt's amputee soccer team gets ready for the African Cup

Location: Cairo, Egypt

Egypt is one of few Arab countries with a national team for amputee soccer

also known as crutches football

The team will face Nigeria and Ghana in the group stages

in the regional African tournament

They hope to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Turkey

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SOCCER PLAYER, IBRAHIM AHMED, SAYING:

"Our ambition is that we take the cup so upon our return we can set up an association and a league and have teams that some of our players could join. We only have 150 players now but I'm sure there are more amputees who want to play, because this sport is in every other country in the world."
