EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders has hinted that Mick Carter will come to terms with his childhood abuse in emotional scenes next week.
Mick (Danny Dyer) has spent weeks in turmoil following manipulation from Katy Lewis, who sexually abused him when he was in a care home as a teenager.
The former landlord's struggles have led to the breakdown of his marriage to Linda (Kellie Bright), who started an affair with Max Branning when he stopped communicating with her.
In scenes airing next week, Linda tries again to talk to Mick and points out that he's clearly going through something serious.
Linda urges Mick to face what's bothering him, but remains unaware of the truth.
Later on, Max presents Linda with tickets to New Zealand for New Year's Day.
Linda is shocked by this, as she hadn't realised Max meant so soon when he spoke about them possibly going away together.
Later in the week, Mick has another flashback to when he was young and with Katy. There's a chance that he might finally be accepting what really happened to him all those years ago.
On New Year's Day, Mick prepares to confront his deepest fears by facing them head on.
Mick takes matter into his own hands and visits Katy, who is surprised to find him at her door.
Will Mick get the real truth from Katy – and could this affect his marriage to Linda before she's due to jet off with Max?
EastEnders airs these scenes on New Year's Day at 8pm on BBC One.
