EastEnders viewers said the BBC soap was the “best it has ever been” as Cindy Beale made her long-awaited return to Walford.
Cindy (Michelle Collins), who was married to Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), was a Walford favourite back in the late 80s and 90s but died off-screen in 1998.
However, it recently turned out that she wasn’t dead after all and she has now made a dramatic return to Albert Square.
Monday, 28 August's instalment saw the character having a slap fight with mother-in-law Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), and fans said they were gripped by the “iconic” scene.
“I literally can't cope with #EastEnders at the moment, it is the best it has ever been,” one posted on Twitter, saying EastEnders was “deffo the best soap right now”.
“Cindy’s return story has been so well thought out and tonight’s episode is nothing short of genius!” said another.

Someone else said it was “a corker of an episode” and another said it was “the best this year”.
One fan posted: “Not even reunited minutes and the slap are flying between Cindy and Kathy.
"The #EastEnders we know and love.”
Another said: “Best way of describing #EastEnders right now is that it's an all you can eat buffet and we are just feasting at the table.
"We've been lacking the good content and now finally somebody is serving!”
Somebody else said the soap was “unmissable”, tweeting: “#EastEnders is at the top of its game right now.”
“Kathy and Cindy scenes were iconic,” remarked another fan.
Where has Cindy been?
Cindy was thought to have died in jail 25 years ago.
However, it recently turned out that she was actually alive and viewers were stunned as it was revealed that Rose Knight, George Knight’s (Colin Salmon) long lost wife, was actually Cindy.
It turned out that Cindy had been living in France with her ex-husband Ian and her son Peter.
