East Tennessee Mountains Brace for Heavy Snowfall

Snow fell in parts of Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains on Friday, January 13, as the National Weather Service (NWS) warned of up to two feet of snow accumulation and wind gusts as high as 40 mph.

Darlene Amason said she filmed this footage from her home northwest of Butler on Friday morning.

According to the NWS, the region could expect snow accumulations of one to two feet across higher elevations, and between two to six inches over the foothills. The service urged drivers to use caution. Credit: Darlene Amason via Storyful
