East Canyon Fire Grows as Hot, Dry Conditions Persist in Colorado

Video from the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control shows the East Canyon Fire near Mancos, Colorado, on June 15 as the fire grew to over 2,700 acres.

The Durango Herald said a spokeswoman for the Bureau of Land Management said the fire was just 5 percent contained by June 16.

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for southwest Colorado for the third consecutive day, with high temperatures, wind gusts and no chance of rain.
