Dwayne Johnson debuts trailer of 'Young Rock', the comedy series based on his life
Dwayne Johnson has unveiled the first trailer for Young Rock, the upcoming comedy series based on his life.
The series, which will air on NBC in the US, picks up the wrestler-turned-actor’s life at the ages of 10, 15 and 20.
Adrian Groulx plays the smart-talking, tequila-curious star at 10, Bradley Constant plays him at 15, and Marco Polo actor Uli Latukefu plays him at 20, as he enters the wrestling world.
Stacey Leilua plays The Rock's mother Ata, while Joseph Lee Anderson plays his father, the former pro wrestler Rocky Johnson, who sadly passed away in January last year, aged 75.
Posting to Instagram, he said: “your first look at @nbcyoungrock. I really wish my dad was around to see this one. Maaaaan he would’ve been proud.
“And yes, I was clearly kicking puberty’s ass at 15yrs old and becoming a tequila tycoon by the time I was 10.”
For those unfamiliar with his wheelings and dealings, Johnson owns his own brand of tequila, Teremana, launched in March last year.
The show has been created by Johnson via his Seven Bucks production company, alongside Nahnatchka Khan, who was behind the series Don't Trust the B**** in Apartment 23 and and Fresh Off the Boat.
To promote the show late last year, a huge blimp of Johnson with his infamous bumbag and neck chain was inflated for the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.
The show is set to air on 16 February.
