Dutch swimmers brave North Sea for New Year's dip

STORY: Participants wearing nothing more than a bathing suit and an occasional beanie could be seen running towards the sea in Scheveningen, traditionally the most famous New Year's dive location in the Netherlands. All over the country, around 50,000 people joined the tradition on 142 spots, local media reported.

The temperature on the beach was 11 degrees Celsius (51.8 degrees Fahrenheit) at the time of the dive and the North Sea had a temperature of 7 degrees Celsius (44.6 degrees Fahrenheit).
