Duck-Chasing Dog Rescued From Icy Canal in England

A dog named Bella was rescued by firefighters after chasing ducks into an ice-covered canal in the town of Willenhall, near Walsall, England, on Thursday morning, January 19, according to West Midlands Fire Rescue.

After Bella fell through the ice, her owner followed her into the water to try to rescue her “but retreated because of the icy temperatures,” the fire service said.

Firefighters used an “inflatable ice path” to bring Bella out of the canal, as seen in this footage.

Both Bella and her owner were wrapped in foil blankets and placed in the back of a fire engine to help them warm up, fire officials added. Credit: West Midlands Fire Service via Storyful
