Dua Lipa Learned “A Lot” From A Recent Relationship “Ending in a Nice Way”
Dula Peep Dua Lipa is giving fans a glimpse into her past relationships with her upcoming third album. Her follow-up to 2020's Future Nostalgia—which won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album—is diving deep into some personal anecdotes, per her Rolling Stone cover story.
The "Houdini" hitmaker shared that it was a "new" experience for her to end a previously romantic connection on good terms. "I think I've had breakups in my life where I felt like the only kind of breakup you could have was when things just ended really badly," Dua explained. "Things ending in a nice way was such a new thing … It taught me a lot."
Dua teased that the lesson in love inspired one of her favorite tracks on her third album, and dear reader: it seems we have another undeniable banger on the way. Per Rolling Stone, she reportedly sings the following lyrics on the track:
I must have loved you more than I ever knew
I’m not mad / I’m not hurt / You got everything you deserve.
"When you have a feeling like that one, you feel really grown because you're like, 'Oh, whoa, I'm such an evolved human being that I can see my ex move on and feel good about it,'" Dua said about the new song.
The Argylle star was romantically linked to filmmaker Romain Gavras before they split last year. It's unclear whether the song was inspired by their relationship, but it was so low-key, there's really no way of knowing. She did, however, confirm that she was in her single era as of December 2023. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Now, Dua seemingly hard-launched her relationship with actor Callum Turner by packing on the PDA at Sushi Park in LA. Honestly? Loving this growth for Dua!
