The musician briefly divulges about her time on the sets of "Barbie" and "Argylle" in a new interview with Time
Dua Lipa remains very "Cool" about her recent movie roles.
In a new interview with Time 100 Most Influential People, the Grammy winner divulged what's to come from her upcoming third studio album, Radical Optimism, as well as her recent ventures on the big screen.
Throughout the conversation, the Grammy winner chatted about appearances in Argylle and Barbie this past year.
The Golden Globe nominee worked with music producer Mark Ronson on the Best Original Song nominated song “Dance the Night” for the 2023 hit film Barbie — which was the film’s first official single. Along with writing an original song for the Greta Gerwig movie, Lipa also had a brief cameo in the feature film as “Mermaid Barbie.”
Along with her star turn in the summer blockbuster, the 28-year-old popstar also appeared in the comedic mystery movie Argylle, which premiered in February. She portrayed the villainous LaGrange and was in the 139-minute-long movie for around 15 minutes.
With both under her belt, Lipa told Time that she refers to those two appearances as her “little baby roles.”

"I loved being on set,” the multi-hyphenate shared. “I love the idea of embodying a different character and having an assignment.”
“I also love when I go to a photo shoot, and I can completely change up my look,” she added. “It gives me like a different persona.”
“I loved being in the movie because it was just so exciting to be a part of something so special like this with an incredible cast,” the star told Vogue of her role in Barbie ahead of the film’s July 21, 2023 premiere. “I feel lucky that [director] Greta Gerwig asked me to be the mermaid.”
After the Barbiemania began to dissipate, the Future Nostalgia singer told Vanity Fair in December 2023, that she felt like she “holding the biggest secret in the world from the song to the little cameo,” adding how the experience “was fun and exciting.”
“It was a crazy back-to-back! It was like, OK, today I’m going to go and put on four different colored wigs and a mermaid tail, and tomorrow I’m going to fly and get up onstage again and do something completely different,” she explained to Vanity Fair.
